FAQs: Answers to some of the most common questions we get

  • We are based in the Belmont Heights neighborhood of Long Beach, perfectly situated at the intersection of LA and OC, and work throughout Southern California.

  • Yes, we regularly will build product for remote clients and designers, and will offer our full service for jobs out of town. This is project dependent. If you are curious or have questions about your specific project, feel free to inquire.

  • We make custom draperies, roman shades, roller shades, wood blinds, cellular shades and shutters

  • Yes, we offer free in-home consultations. We will come to your space, learn about your needs, make product and design recommendations, share samples, and take measurements to build your custom window treatments.

  • Once a client has made final selections on materials, most of our products are produced in approximately two weeks, and can generally be scheduled for installation within a week. Start to finish over 90% of our projects are completed in under one month.

  • Under normal use situations, our Ironclad Guarantee protects product for the lifespan of the product. In essence, if you have a problem, simply call and we will take care of it.

  • Everything is made in the USA. Our Artfully Crafted soft treatments, including fabric roman shades and draperies are made right here in downtown Los Angeles. Many of our roller shades are also made right here in Southern California, though some are made in other states with select partner manufacturers.

  • We source most of our house fabrics right here, in the fashion district, in downtown Los Angeles. We have the fortunate advantage of having one of the country’s most robust garment districts right in our backyard, and have established very good relationships with high-quality textile vendors within a 30 minute drive of our HQ.

We also have trade accounts with many of the best designer fabric suppliers in the industry and are happy to source a specific fabric you have fallen in love with.

Our woven wood roman shades, roller shades, and blinds are all sourced from US suppliers, who favor materials made in the US, though a small percentage of small parts come from international sources.

  • We offer traditional rod and ring hardware from 3/4” to 2” diameter. We also offer a full selection of traversing rods and tracks. We have hundreds of finials to choose from and basic finishes from black, chrome, or bronze, or can specialty powder coat any hardware to offer (literally) thousands of unique finishes.

Our rod and ring hardware is made right here, by hand, in Los Angeles. We build our own traversing tracks with product sourced from local vendors.

We are Somfy Certified motorization experts and offer fully motorized drapery hardware (as well as roman shades and roller shades)

  • We are fully custom, meaning we can do any pleat for any drapery in any circumstance. If you have seen it, we can do it.

The most common pleats our clients select tend to be a tailored pleat and two-finger pinch pleat, but if you would like a traditional French pleat, box pleat, inverted pleat, or anything else, we are happy to create it for you.

  • Drapery fullness is determined by how much fabric is used to fabricate the drape. Fortunately, if are are working with us, this is typically not something you need to worry about! Our standard pleated draperies are made at 2.5x fullness, sheers at 3x fullness, and ripple fold drapes at either 80%, 100%, or 120% fullness.

In the case of ripple fold, we will typically discuss the implications of fullness for your particular setup and determine together what makes the most sense…or simply trust us and you’ll be in good hands!

  • Yes, we build custom upholstered cornice boxes, made by hand and upholstered locally. We also have been known to come up with other custom top treatments.

  • This depends on a number of factors, arguably the most important, how much mounting depth do you have and what is most important to you - privacy, light control, or aesthetic.

Generally given the option, most clients prefer to inside mount roman shades, but this is not always possible. Also, if you want to block as much light as possible in the case of a blackout shade by eliminating light gaps, outside mounting may be better.

We will walk you through both circumstances and help determine what will be best.

  • We offer traditional roman shades with a valance (decorative flap of fabric that hangs off the front), “flat front” or “waterfall” style without a valance, as well as top-down-bottom-up.

Most of our roman shades are made with horizontal support structures that help the shade fold neatly at the top of a window, though some sheer shades do not include support structures.

All top-down-bottom-up roman shades are made with a valance to conceal the control mechanisms when the shade is in the “top down” position.

  • Yes, all of our roman shades, roller shades, and draperies can be motorized.

We only use Somfy motors as we have found them to be the highest quality, most versatile, and most highly integratable motors across the industry.
