Project Highlights: Motorized Roller Shades
Motorized blinds and roller shade systems can seem overwhelming and out of reach financially, but with the right product and know how, they are simple, work flawlessly, and will last a very long time. Field Work Design Craft builds motorized roller shade systems (and other types of motorize window treatments) in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the surrounding areas.
Whether you are looking for a hardwired, 120V roller blind system with wall switches, a simple battery operated system with remote controls, or a full-on smart home and smart phone integrated motorized roller shade system, we have got you covered.
Last week we finished up this motorized system for an owner-occupied condo overlooking the Belmont Pier in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. When we came onto the scene to see what was there and needed, what we found were some pretty old and tattered outdoor solar screens that had been absolutely trashed by the harsh oceanfront conditions.
Fortunately we were able to utilize existing power for the new system, but enhance the system design and materials substantial, making it much more aesthetically appealing with modern solar shade and hardware, and through the use of coupling shades together, save the owner quite a bit of money by reducing the total number of motors required for operation.
Our fabricator of choice on this project was Draper Inc., who is arguably the premier shade builder for large scale industrial projects, but has recently moved into the residential space with some pretty great, quality products and an awesome support staff. We worked hand in hand with their team to find the perfect equipment, hardware, and screen materials to meet the needs of the property owner.
Somfy motors are always our motors of choice due to their superior performance as well as their technical support staff. Field Work Design Craft is a Somfy Certified Motirzation expert, too.
A 12 Foot Motorized Roller Shade
Another stand out project from the past few weeks was a 12 foot, lithium ion batter powered roller shade that went across a large sliding glass door leading out to a patio and BBQ station for a client in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.
The size of this motorized roller shade put it right at the top of the technical limitations of the motor, fabric, and hardware. But working hand in hand with the fabricator, we were able to pull it off with confidence and to the satisfaction of the client.
The shade is operated again by a Somfy RTS remote control motor (RTS = radio technology) and is compatible with various smart home integrations like Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
